The short version
Can't Get Cover does not provide car finance. One regulated company advertises car finance on this site — Autodosh — and publishing that advertisement is the whole of our role. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, we hold no credit permissions, and we never make or see a lending decision. Autodosh pay us a commission when a reader who clicks their advertisement goes on to complete finance. Any application is subject to status, nothing here is a promise of approval, and the only APR or payment figures in our car finance section appear in the advertiser’s own approved representative example — your actual rate is set by the lender. Rates start from 9.9% APR. Representative Example: borrowing £7,000 over 5 years with a Representative APR of 21.9%, an annual interest rate of 21.9% (Fixed) and a deposit of £0.00, the amount payable would be £185.33 per month, with a total cost of credit of £4,119.81 and a total amount payable of £11,119.81. Rates may differ depending on individual circumstances. Rates from 9.9% APR: the exact rate you will be offered will be based on your circumstances, subject to status. No initial impact to your credit score, but a hard search will be added to your credit profile if you decide to proceed with finance.
Our car finance pages exist to explain how UK lending really works when your credit file has scars on it. They are guides, not applications. There is no form on any of them and we collect nothing from you.
When a page offers you a way forward, that link goes to Autodosh, an FCA-authorised credit broker. They take your details and match you to a lender from the panel they search. The lender is the firm that carries out any credit search, makes the lending decision, issues the credit agreement and releases the money. Your data is handled by Autodosh, and by the lender if you are matched and proceed — not by us. We are the signpost, not the road.
We are paid for the advertising. That is our only commercial interest in this section of the site, and it is the same regardless of which page you arrive from.
What actually happens when you click
No surprises, in order:
- 01You leave our site
The link is marked as sponsored and opens Autodosh's own journey. You will see their branding, their terms and their privacy notice — not ours.
- 02They ask you questions
Your details, your income and outgoings, the kind of car and the kind of agreement you are after.
- 03They match you to a lender
Autodosh look at what you have told them and find the lenders on their panel whose criteria may fit. Autodosh do not carry out a credit search and do not make any lending decision.
- 04They show you what is realistically available
From the lenders on their panel, including the specialists who look at imperfect credit properly instead of auto-declining it. Autodosh make the match; each lender decides for itself.
- 05If you go ahead, you apply to the lender
Any credit search, the affordability assessment, the lending decision, the credit agreement and the money are between you and the lender. Autodosh matched you; they do not lend and they do not decide. We are not part of any of it and we are not told the outcome.
You can stop at any point. Nothing is committed until you sign a credit agreement with a lender, and approval is always subject to status.
What data changes hands
This is the part most people assume works differently than it does, so plainly:
No form, no quote engine, no data capture anywhere in our car finance section. We could not pass on your details even if we wanted to, because we never have them.
From the moment you click through, Autodosh handle everything you type — and if you are matched and choose to proceed, the lender handles it too. Each is responsible for the data it holds. Autodosh's privacy notice governs their side: autodosh.co.uk/privacy
Because we hold none to sell. We never have, and the business model does not require it.
Anonymous, aggregate traffic — how many people clicked from which page. No names, no addresses, no financial detail. Our full privacy policy covers cookies and analytics.
What we are paid, and what it does not buy
Autodosh pays us a commission when someone who clicks our affiliate link goes on to complete finance — payable only once the funds are released. You pay us nothing, at any point, ever.
What that commission does not buy: it does not buy a recommendation. We say the same things about car finance whether you click or not — that specialist lenders exist, that they will still check affordability, that a higher rate is the usual price of a damaged file, and that anyone promising approval before seeing your details is telling you something they cannot know.
What it also does not buy: our silence on cost. Autodosh receive a commission in connection with the finance they arrange, and they set that out themselves in their initial disclosure and terms: autodosh.co.uk/initial-disclosure. Read it before you commit to anything.
Every commercial arrangement we have across the whole site is listed on how we make money.
