Built for the drivers
no-one else wanted.

Quick answer

Can't Get Cover is a free UK service for drivers the mainstream insurance market turns away — young drivers quoted absurd prices, drivers with convictions or cancelled policies, non-UK licence holders and owners of modified cars. We are not an insurance company and we are not currently authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to sell, arrange or advise on insurance; we are a publisher, and every partner placement is a clearly-labelled advertisement.

We explain, in plain English checked against official sources, which kinds of specialist insurer actually quote each situation. Clearly-labelled advertisements link to FCA-regulated partners — Quotezone for car insurance comparison across 130+ UK insurers, and Autodosh for car finance — if you choose to get quotes. We earn a disclosed commission from partners; you never pay us a fee, and the partner controls the quote and final price. Our one absolute rule: we will never suggest misrepresenting any detail to an insurer, because fraud voids policies and is a criminal offence.

Mainstream UK insurance is an algorithm. Type in your details and a model decides whether you're a "good risk." If you're not, you get a "no quote available" page or a number that looks like a postcode. We think that's broken.

Why I built this

I'm not an insurance broker, and I won't pretend to be. I started Can't Get Cover after running into the same wall a lot of UK drivers hit — premiums that climbed every year, and the sinking "no quote available" screen when I actually needed cover. I couldn't find one honest, plain-English place that explained what to do next, so I built it.

Everything here is researched against primary sources — GOV.UK, the FCA register, the ABI — and reviewed before it goes live. Every partner that advertises here is FCA-authorised, and we'll never suggest bending the truth on a quote form to shave the price. That's the whole point: an honest route through, for the drivers the algorithm turned away.

— The founder, Can't Get Cover

The problem

Every year, millions of UK drivers fall outside the standard insurance pricing models — young drivers, drivers with convictions, drivers whose policy was cancelled, drivers with non-UK licences, drivers with modified cars, drivers whose renewal jumped 80% with no claims.

Mainstream comparison sites either filter them out or quote so high that the answer is effectively "no." But cover does exist for almost every situation. It just lives behind specialist brokers, niche underwriters and regional schemes that aren't on the big comparison sites.

The information about how to find these insurers is fragmented across forum threads, broker landing pages, and motoring journalism that's 5 years out of date. Most drivers don't know the system well enough to navigate it.

What we do

Three things, all free:

  1. Plain-English guides that explain every situation properly — what it costs, what to declare, and how specialist insurers approach it. No personal data, no driving licence numbers, no fronting suggestions.
  2. Honest guides on every situation that locks drivers out of mainstream cover — written in plain English, kept up to date.
  3. Clearly-labelled advertisements for FCA-authorised partners — Quotezone for car insurance comparison and Autodosh for car finance — so you can go and get real quotes if you want them. We never handle the quote or your money; the partner does, on its own website.

What we won't do

We won't suggest you misrepresent yourself to lower a premium. Insurance fraud is a criminal offence under the Fraud Act 2006. It voids your policy at claim time — exactly when you need it. It can put you on the IFB and CIFAS registers, which lock you out of insurance, credit, mortgages and employment for years.

The drivers we want to help have already been hurt by the system. We're not going to suggest a path that hurts them further.

Where we are right now

Live. Can't Get Cover is an editorial site carrying clearly-labelled advertisements for FCA-authorised partners — Quotezone (operated by Seopa Ltd) for car insurance comparison across 130+ UK insurers, and Autodosh for car finance. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and as a publisher we don't need to be: we never quote, advise on, arrange or sell insurance, and we never handle your money or your payment.

When you choose to get a quote, you go to the partner's own FCA-regulated quote engine, which does all of that. We earn a commission, disclosed in full on our how we make money page, and you never pay us anything — partners pay us out of their own marketing budgets.

We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office for data protection. We are not an appointed representative of any firm, and we hold no insurance permissions of our own — the authorised partners who advertise here do all the regulated work on their own sites.

How we make money

Some of the insurers and brokers we connect you with pay us a referral fee when you take out a policy (or, for some products, complete a quote) through us. This is standard in the regulated UK insurance market and is clearly disclosed.

What we promise: commission will never determine which insurer we suggest first. Suggestions are based on fit — which insurer has the best appetite for your real situation — not which one pays us most.

Who we are

A small UK team building this in 2026. We've spent years watching mainstream insurance fail people who deserve better, and we're tired of it. We're not a big firm with a marketing budget. Everything you see here was built by hand, for honest reasons.
